Public Transport

The easiest forms of local Transport are either by Dolmus or Taxi. A Dolmus is like a mini-bus and travels set routes.

There is a main Dolmus station in Fethiye where you will find transport to most places in the region you would wish to go. The Dolmus pass the villa complex going to either Fethiye, Hisaronu/Olu Deniz, or Hisaronu and onto Kaya Koya village, recognized by the sign on the windscreen. All you have to do is put your hand out wherever you are and one will stop for you. The Dolmus fare is determined by the local council dependant on distance and is very cheap and reasonable, for example around 80p to the beach from the villa, or 60p to the weekly market in Fethiye

Taxis are numerous and are recognised by their yellow colour. They are metered and there are two different rates, Daytime and after 24.00hrs until 06.00hrs when it will probably be about 50% more than the daytime rate. Tipping is not necessary, however leaving the change or rounding up the fare is the norm. There is a 24 hr taxi rank 400yrds from the villa. An average fare to the beach would be around £4.00.

Airport transfers can be arranged from the UK. There are many very reliable companies who offer this service.

The company we recommend is Canyon travel, which will provide an air-conditioned minibus transfer rather than a car.

They charge per transfer, not per person at around £40 each way. Payable in sterling to the driver on the return to the airport.

On arrival at Dalaman they will be waiting outside the arrivals lounge with a name card for you.
This can be booked through us, or direct with the owner Oguz at canyon@superonline.com

Hire cars are readily available (as are motorbikes, scooters, road buggies etc).

They drive on the right and you will need a full uk driving licence. It is possible to hire from the airport or locally on arrival, however public transport is so good and organised excursions so readily available that car hire is not really necessary.

Orange Rent a Car at http://ww.orangerentacar.com can rent a Fiat 131 for around £140 a week

Flights

The nearest airport to the villa is Dalaman which is aproximately 55mins transfer time, though they are in the process of  building a short tunnel through the mountain which should reduce the transfer time to around 40 mins for summer 2006.

Dalaman airport is in the process of being completely rebuilt for May 2006 offering state of the art check in facilities.

On arrival there is a government visa tax payable of £10 sterling. This is a passport stamp that allows you to travel in and out of Turkey for 3 months. It is payable by both adults and children.

Numerous travel companies fly to Dalaman, some are listed below, though in no particular order.

Another thing to look for is the dreaded 'hidden' charges - eg credit card charges, flight taxes, meal supplements, etc.  It pays to shop around to check you are getting the best deal for your money!
